Back in Black – A Return to Academia

Never fear, Blog-friends!

I have returned and I’m bringing with me a personal determination fuelled largely by the start of a new academic year.

That… and I’m taking a new course related to writing online (mentioned in my previous post but I thought I’d mention it here too). Professional Writing: Digital Contexts is poised to be a fascinating and insightful course; I kind of need all the help I can get when it comes to writing online and marketing myself and my work appropriately.

What can I say? I may be more tech-savvy than the majority of my family (who’re mostly over the age of forty anyway) but there is still much for me to learn.

But that’s what I find so exciting! By taking this course, I can refine and enhance my online writing, allowing me to traverse the digital landscape with a little (see: a lot) more nuance. I’m especially intrigued by the notion of finding my audience (or “interactors,” as described in Brian Carroll’s Writing and Editing for Digital Media, 3rd Ed.).

So expect a more frequent rate of posting from myself and, eventually, a better framework / layout for this little ol’ blog of mine.
